Escape to the darkness of Sci-fi and Horror.
Thanks for taking a look at the Tears in Rain publication.
From dystopian landscapes to chilling narratives, sci-fi & horror offer mindful escapes. There are two types of posts you can expect - Discussion and Recommendations.
Opinion
Fiction is therapy. Sci-fi and horror may not necessarily be something you’d associate with mindfulness and mental wellness, but as anyone who craves a moment to forget their tired ways of thinking and feeling, these genres offer a haven of escapism.
Relating to a character, a story, their struggles, how they overcome problems, it’s the magic of escapism.
So each article will delve into characters, movies, books, soundtracks and TV shows, and discuss their relevance as great examples of the genre and how they have helped me practice mindfulness (even by just helping me disappear into another world). Maybe they’ll help you too.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Sick of ‘the algorithm’ recommending the same thing based on what ‘it’ knows about you? Or just starting to find it a little creepy?
Your next favourite thing is usually something unexpected. From somewhere unexpected. Something suggested by someone just like you.
RECOMMENDED is that human voice, the person who works in the record store or book store, who thinks that maybe this is worth your time because its something they enjoyed and they think you might too.
Its a short, concise ‘review’ of new and old sci-fi and horror films, books, tv shows, soundtracks that I liked, and the idea is if you like it too, you can quickly pass it on to someone you think will enjoy it.
Human to human recommendations, remember them?
